You call that a national championship game? Alabama embarrasses Irish

Those of you who were tuning in last night expecting a close competitive game at least got a quick notice that it was not to be.

Nick Saban's Crimson Tide came out and took the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to woodshed, and by the end of the half, the game was for all intents and purposes, over.

Eddie Lacy, the game MVP, ran all and spun over the place, rushing for 140 yards on 20 carriers that included 1 rushing TD and one TD reception. QB AJ McCarron had good numbers in his own right, going 20 of 28 for 264 yards and four touchdowns in the rout.

Another year, another BCS laugher. "We've had a lot of really great football players who've worked really hard," Saban said via ESPN. "Because we've had a great team, we've been able to have a significant amount of success."

After the game, Alabama was voted no. 1 by the AP, followed by Oregon.

Notre Dame, no. 1 before the game, plummeted down to the 4 spot.
