University of Arkansas in hot pursuit of Les Miles

According to reports from Sports by Brooks, the University of Arkansas has offered LSU Head Coach Les Miles a 5 year deal worth $27.5million to be their new Head Coach.

The Razorbacks are hoping Miles can do for them, what he did for LSU.  There is no comment from Miles or his agent.

Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long had relieved Head Coach John L. Smith of his duties and reassigned him to a consultant duty until his contract expires in February 2013.

Smith got the 10 month appointment after former coach Bobby Petrino was fired last April.

Miles, whose LSU Tigers team just defeated the Razorbacks on Saturday 20-13 to finish the season 10-2 and ranked #7 in the BCS, is completing the second year of a seven year contract signed in January 2011.

This contract was given to him after he turned down his alma mater Michigan, who had fired Rich Rodriguez after three disappointing years.

Miles has an 85-20 record with the Tigers, as well as winning two SEC Championships and a BCS Championship.
