In a surprise move, head coach Tommy Tuberville has resigned from Texas Tech and will be introduced as Cincinnati's next head coach, several sources are reporting.
The shocking news comes one day after Butch Jones left Cincinnati to become Tennessee's next football coach. Cincinnati didn't miss a beat in filling the position.
A Texas Tech official said the school was "completely blindsided" by the move.
Tuberville has spent his entire football life down south - four years as head coach at Ole Miss, 10 years at Auburn and then the last three at Texas Tech, and will now make his way up north to coach Cincinnati, who has won it's share of four of the last five Big East titles and will play in the Belk Bowl this season.
Tuberville was 20-17 in three seasons at Texas Tech.
