The Tennessee Titans defense gave up a franchise-record 471 points in 2012, not a stat you'd want to hang your hat on, but to cornerback Alterraun Verner, a book-smart math guy out of UCLA, it's all quite simple on how to fix it.
It's not about the need for a new coordinator or new personnel, it all has to do with attitude.
“I just think that we have to have some type of killer instinct or swag,” Verner told John Glennon of the Tennessean.
“We need a little bit more of that. You look at some of the (other NFL) defenses and you just see, you just feel, that confidence. Sometimes I don’t get that sense from our defense.
“That’s where the killer instinct comes in. We’re a really good defense and I think we have real big capabilities of doing things week in and week out. We just have to tap into that every week.”
