Seahawks take Darrell Bevell off the market with new deal

Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell was a hot commodity while various teams were searching for a head coach these past weeks, especially the Chicago Bears, who had him on their top 3 list.

He was also scheduled to interview with the Jacksonville Jaguars before they decided on giving Gus Bradley the position.

As of last night, all head coaching vacancies have been filled, and according to ESPN's John Clayton, Bevell won't be leaving Seattle any time soon.

'Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell also was a candidate for the Arizona job but withdrew because Seattle gave him a new contract, a source told ESPN.'

Bevell was the main reason why the Seattle offense turned on the jets in the second half of the season.

After tweaking the offense to give rookie QB Rusell Wilson more options with zone-read concepts, they saw their first half average of scoring 16.6 points per game to nearly doubling it in the second half with 31.6 per game.
