NFL Draft Videostat Profile: DT Dontari Poe

Memphis DT Dontari Poe is next up in our signature 60 Max Videostat Profile series...

Positives:
This huge prospect could challenge to be the first nose tackle taken in the 2012 NFL Draft. Poe is a force in the middle, tying up multiple blockers and holding the point of attack to limit running room. He is explosive off the line for his size and has the speed to track down the quarterback. Poe's quick feet give him good burst in tight spaces. Poe can find the running lanes and breaks down quickly to stop and bring down the ball carrier. He's rarely beaten off the line and uses his long arms to shed blockers with contact and leverage.

Negatives:
The superlatives thrown at him stem from his athletic ability. However, Poe will need to work on his conditioning if he wants to contribute as a every down guy. His stellar performance at the NFL combine sent his stock soaring.  NFL front offices want to see him develop more pass rush moves to split double teams and attack different gaps. There is talk that Poe could be taken in the first half of the first round. That's a bit lofty, but he's certainly earned his place as a top defensive tackle prospect.
