Matt Thomas becomes new Seahawks VP

The Seattle Seahawks found their replacement for John Idzik, who bolted the northwest to take on the challenging position of New York Jets general manager.

Former Browns and Dolphins executive Matt Thomas will be their new vice president of football administration, the team announced Friday.

Thomas held the same position with the Browns for the last three seasons and began his NFL with the Dolphins in 1998, spending 12 seasons there.

Seattle GM John Schneider said Matt came highly recommended by some top NFL executives.

"Matt is a well-respected salary cap expert and was recommended by many top-ranking NFL executives," Schneider said, via the Seahawks website. "I am excited to welcome him to our football family."
