It was a loss in more ways than one Sunday night for the San Francisco 49ers. A big blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks has been compounded with the loss of receiver Mario Manningham, who tore both his ACL and PCL, EPSN's Adam Schefter is reporting.
The slow motion replay of his knee buckling was gruesome, as we saw the bone from the side of the knee pop right out but luckily not break the skin. From that point, we knew it didn't look good for Mario.
It's a tought loss for the 49ers going forward into the playoffs. Manningham is 2nd on the team with 42 catches and third on the team with 449 receiving yards, and now the team will likely turn to veteran Randy Moss to fill the void.
Also, a devastating injury like this in at the end of December will cut into the start of next season.
"More brutal injuries: 49ers wide receiver Mario Manningham tore his ACL and PCL Sunday night vs. Seattle. Done for season.
