Lawrence Timmons' restructured deal creates some cap space for Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers and linebacker Lawrence Timmons have agreed on a restructured salary that will create about $5 million in cap space, and it won't cost Timmons a dime, reports USA Today.

In the deal, the team guaranteed a large portion of the $7.875 million Timmons was owed in total compensation, which means he'll get his money up front rather than throughout the year.

Next up would be QB Ben Roethlisberger and safety Troy Polamalu, who's contracts could be restructured soon.

Linebacker James Harrison may also be asked to restructure, if of course speculation about his pending release prove to be untrue.
