The key to Minnesota beating Green Bay is not AP, but QB Christian Ponder

What a way to start the NFC side of wild card weekend with the rubber match of the season between these two NFC Central rivals Saturday at Lambeau at 8pm.

During the regular season, each team won at home, Green Bay 23-14 at Lambeau and last week the Vikings 37-34 in their must win game at Mall of America Field.  There were also similarities in both games as Aaron Rodgers had strong games with over 300 yards of passing, Adrian Peterson averaged 200 a game rushing, both teams gained on average over 400 yards of total offense and one weird stat both winning teams committed more penalties, which ended up being 10 in both games.

The one big factor in the game was Vikings QB Christian Ponder.

In the loss, he was 12/25 for 119 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions for a QB rating of 41.9, but in the Vikings victory he was 16/28 for 234 yards 3 touchdowns, no interceptions and a QB rating of 120.2.  He was sacked once in the win and twice in the loss.

Ponder needs to prevent turnovers keep the pressure off of Peterson, so he can continue the streak of running for at least 150 yards in 7 of the last 10 games.

If the Vikings are going to win, they need everything to stay the same, maybe cut back on the penalties, but they need Ponder to make the difference and then they can make travel plans for either San Francisco of Atlanta the following weekend.
