It’s something that has followed Peyton Manning around his entire career, but in a different city where he is supposed to bring a championship, Manning isn’t in Idianapolis anymore.
When you take the top dollars, you have to deliver the goods and there are many critics saying, “Peyton choked again.”
John Fox isn’t one of them, he understands Manning gave the Broncos the lead late, only to watch the defense give up a deep touchdown pass that put the game into overtime.
A lot of people are talking about taking a knee when the Broncos had a shot to win in regulation, Fox doesn’t want to hear any of that, you win as a team and you lose as one also. Fox talked about the game in his season ending press conference, and that Manning gave the Broncos a chance to win, it just slipped away.
“I think if you gave a coach and players that opportunity to win a divisional playoff game, 10 out of 10 times they would take it,” Fox said of being ahead 35-28 with less than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter. “I wish we would have done a better job of coaching it and executing it than what happened,” according to Michael David Smith of profootballweekly.com.
“In my opinion Peyton played well enough for us to win, we just came up short,” Fox said.
