Eagles part ways with Mike Patterson

The Philadelphia Eagles have released their 2005 first-round pick DT Mike Patterson, the team announced Monday.

Patterson, a full time starter since 2006, has had his problems. In 2011, he had a seizure during training camp in 2011, but played all year, albeit with a congenital tangle of blood vessels in his brain.

He underwent surgery after that season to correct the problem, but was never the same, playing in only 5 games in 2012.

He was scheduled to collect $2.9 million in 2013.
