Philadelphia Eagles LB Casey Matthews might be onto something; well, maybe not.
Oregon Ducks head coach Chip Kelly is a hot name for the NFL coaching vacancies that are going to start popping up.
One place that is most likely going to have an opening is in Philadelphia. It’s not a far fetched idea; in fact it is a great one.
The New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers and the New Orleans Saints all operate fast paced offenses built on speeding up the game before the snap. Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots run a NFL version of the Oregon offense.
Belichick had Kelly visit Foxboro in order to pick his brain about the Ducks explosive offense. NFL teams lately have been taking portions of the college offense ino the pros; the Redskins for instance, are using a spread option offense for Robert Griffith III.
It’s unavoidable the two worlds would collide. Matthews suggests Chip Kelly would be a good fit in Philadelphia, bringing his high octane offense and combining it with the amount of talent the Eagles have on offense would be a perfect match.
"I think the fans here would love him," Matthews said Thursday via Philly.com. "They would love his attitude, his go-get-it mentality."
"The way he carries himself, the way his mindset is, I think they'll really like him here," he said. "He would crack jokes. When he would talk to reporters at halftime he would give the most sarcastic answers."
