The New England Patriots got their big splash out of the way with the signing of WR Brandon Lloyd, and now the focus turns back to adding some needed depth in key positions. No big splashes here, just skipping rocks in the pond, you could say.
Today, it’s the Tight End position. The former Denver Bronco (6’4” 252 lbs), undrafted as a rookie from Cal-Davis, adds depth to their league dominating TE tandem of Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski.
It’s an interesting pick-up, as we’re looking forward to the possible utilization of Aaron Hernandez lining up as a receiver more.
Last year in Denver, Fells had 19 catches for 256 yards and 3 TDs.
The Patriots look to shore up several areas through free agency this year, signing low risk players with something to prove.
