The NFL came down on Brandon Spikes today in the form of a $25,000 fine for his helmet to helmet hit on Buffalo Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.
We all knew the fine was coming, and so did Spikes, who said earlier this week that he anticpated hearing from the NFL soon.
The hit knocked Fitzpatrick's helmet off, who got up and jarred with Spikes immediately.
After the game, he said “I think he’s a punk at times. Not one of my favorite players. Not high on my list.”
Spikes defends his style of play. “I’m a passionate player,” he said. “I love what I do. I get a kick out of it. I go to bed thinking about ball, I wake up thinking about ball. You can see it when I’m playing.”
Also from last Sunday's game, other fines were doled out to Jerod Mayo ($10,000), for tackling C.J. Spiller after he ran out of bounds, and Alfonzo Dennard ($7,875), for unnecessary roughness - a late hit on Fitzpatrick.
