Bill Belichick draws criticism for Gronkowski injury

You have to love the Boston sports media - you're damned if you do, and damned if you don’t. That’s what Bill Belichick is waking up to this morning.

After a 59-24 thumping of the previously 6-3 Indianapolis Colts, some of the local media are pointing fingers at Belichick for leaving Gronkowski in the game too long. Well, we guess Belichick must have put his crystal ball away at 45-24.

The reason why the Patriots are contenders every year is because they do things their way, and after 12 years of success, now everyone is an expert.

“I’ve never understood some of these decisions that get made, to use some of these guys on special teams,”  “Why are you doing this? I don’t get it. . . . I’ve never understood it. It’s very head-scratching. If it were me, I wouldn’t have him on extra points, period”, the Boston Herald's Ron Borges said.

Let’s explain it this way - Belichick started his career as a special teams coach, it’s important to him to have his special teams have the same amount of talent as offense or defense. Ted Bruschi, Mike Vrabel and many big named Patriots players have played on special teams.

Simply put, you’re not special enough not to play special teams.

Furthermore, it’s just simply the Patriot way. Just as it was for Julian Edelman to play defensive back, or Aaron Hernandez playing H-back.

At 7-3, Belichick once again has his team positioned for a deep run into the playoffs, and to quote Belichick from his NFL channel documentary 'A Football Life',” He’s "not scared", and that’s what makes him a great head coach.
