Percy Harvin had been placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury, the Vikings confirmed on Wednesday evening.
The team was holding out that their best receiver could return, but the news came from head coach Leslie Frazier that it is a wrap for Harvin.
Harvin injured his ankle in week 9 vs. the Seattle Seahawks.
Losing Harvin is a huge blow to the Vikings passing offense, which is already ranked 32nd in the NFL and struggling. Now, there is more pressure on young Christian Ponder to raise his level of play.
In 2012, Harvin had 62 catches for 677 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also had 96 yards rushing and 1 touchdown via the ground.
