Tragic news out of Philadelphia as Eagles G.M. Howie Roseman has announced that Andy Reid's son Garrett was found dead at Eagles training camp this morning.
A 911 call was placed at 7:20 AM, and police have confirmed that is was in fact Garrett, who was found in his dorm room at camp. He had been assisting the Eagles' strength coaches at this year's camp.
"On a personal note, we've been with Andy for a long time. He's always been strong for us, we're going to be strong for him right now. As a father and a friend, we're all hurting," Roseman said.
Garrett had his drug problems in the past, but no word on wther that played a factor. Polcie did say that foul play was not suspect.
In 2008, he was sentenced to 2 years in a state drug rehab program after being arrested with 89 prescription pills inside his rectum at the Montgomery County Prison while he was serving time related to a 2007 car crash that seriously injured a woman.
Also in 2007, he was sentenced to 23 months for destroying another motorist's car while he was under the influence of heroin.
Out heart goes out to Andy and family, who has dealt with the struggles of both of his sons. His other son Britt also has had troubles with drug abuse.
