49ers Colin Kaepernick fits mold of mobile quarterbacks that trouble Falcons

San Francisco is on the verge of getting to the Super Bowl, and they have to feel good on who they are facing next week. No disrespect Falcons fans, but Atlanta’s defense doesn’t handle mobile passers very well at all.

Colin Kaepernick, who set a NFL postseason record for rushing by a quarterback, could have a field day against the mobile QB challenged group of defenders.

Russell Wilson used his legs to bring the Seahawks back from a 20 point deficit, and if it wasn’t for his defense’s collapse, the Falcons would be talking this one over packing their things to go home.

However, the Falcons survived, but for how long? Here is a look at the mobile quarterbacks Atlanta has faced in 2012, and what they were able to achieve:

  • Robert Griffin III had 91 passing yards and one seven-yard rush before leaving with a concussion in the third quarter.
  • Russell Wilson had 445 total yards, three touchdowns and averaged 8.6 yards on seven carries.
  • Cam Newton notched a 113.8 rating and on the ground gained 202 yards with a 11.2 yards a carry, while scoring 6 total touchdowns in two games this season.
  • Michael Vick ran for 42 yards on 7 carries and threw for 191 yards and a touchdown.
  • Robert Griffin III had 91 passing yards and one seven-yard rush before leaving with a concussion in the third quarter.
